I've never been a fan of blends. Might be because blended whiskey aren't as genuine as single malts. Don't get me wrong. They might taste great, but the fact that in unblended whiskeys the brewers have to make the same stuff every time. As opposed to blends where if there is some difference in taste it can be compensated. It's just not pure somehow. That being said… I ordered Mississippi Mud for quite a hefty price. Even by Finnish standards. It's a blend of porter and pilsner. And mark my words. It tastes really great. I mean. Really great. Smooth, easy to drink, perfect sweetness, almost no bitterness. I can't think of a better beer right now. Boom! My favorite.
The color is quite dark, almost reddish, you can still see through it. Normal bubbles i think, not as different from others like Guinness is.
The bottle is perhaps the coolest ever with a loop. Can't remember what these are called. Really different from everything. The bottle is perhaps the thing i bought it for in the first place.
But the taste is amazing as i said. I really can't find anything I don't like in it. Not as robust or heavy as perhaps the Rebel which I thought was my favorite until now. Will definitely buy it again. The price was 10€ when i ordered from Gourmondo so quite steep. The bottle is close to 1 liter, 946 ml to be precise so it isn't _that_ expensive. But still, more expensive than your ordinary bulk beer (which this is nothing like).
I planned to drink this during the Superbowl but i had too much to eat as it was so I just couldn't drink it then and didn't want to spoil the beer by having to force myself to drink it. Congrats to the Seahawks. My team was nowhere near the Superbowl this year.
In any case. A great beer. I can't say if it is as complex as some other beers. Maybe not. But still. Really good, smooth and easy to drink.
Until next time…
