Well met. It's been a while since the last update again. That is mainly because I don't drink that much at all and when I drink, I forget or am unable to write here for some reasons. Also, I've started running again. I've been running on and off for a while now, but every time I run, I'm unwilling to take a beer. Or any alcohol at all, since according to my sources, it is cutting off the fat burning process. It might not be much, but it would feel weird. That is a shame, since after a run it would really taste good with a beer or two. However! I have found a loophole. One would think I would have found it sooner, given the vast intellect i behold. But no. The loophole is simple. Take away the alcohol. In other words, alcohol free beer. I know some wouldn't call it even beer. But, I'm rather fond of beer with less alcohol, especially in the summer. It tastes basically the same, a little lighter and more refreshing. Perfect.
I got introduced to a site on the internet selling alcohol and delivering it to you directly. www.Gourmondo.de . If I had extra money lying around I would probably spend it there. A huge assortment of pretty much everything you can put in your mouth… And stuff that isn't even available in Finland and to top it off, at a reasonable price. Read: cheaper than here. So i ordered a set of beers from bayern, a madeira bottle, a bottle of gin (Hendrick's) and a special beer from the US. Going to make a post about it here some day. You'll just have to wait.
So, about the beer. An alcohol free wheat beer. I like wheat beer a lot. Its more refreshing and easy drinkable than normal beers or darker ones. This one is called Unertl Weißbeer. I think my bottle is missing an etiquette on the back, since there is none there. D'uh. So no story on how great this beer is. Even if there was one, I wouldn't understand it since it would probably be in german and I don't speak or read german almost at all. Bummer. It's always fun to read how the brewers describe their beers.
The color was quite reddish. Not as yellow as some wheat beers are like.
The taste was at first a little chemical somehow. Possibly because of the lack of alcohol. I'm not really familiar with how the alcohol is removed. Maybe it leaves some unwanted taste. However, I can't really taste it anymore so it's not that bad. The taste is quite normal, wheat beer like. A nice aftertaste, sweetish and, yes, quite nice. I could have another one and I do believe I would buy it again if I had the chance, and remembered the brand. Unertl isn't something that you (or at least I) will remember.
Im quite bad at describing what I taste, as you may or may not have noticed. It could taste like chocolate chip cookies for all I know, but I think I'm missing some taste-definition-and-recognition-part of my brain. I guess nobody's perfect. All I can say is if like it or not. And that is what counts. Quite often people are afraid to buy more expensive whiskeys because they're probably afraid that they can't taste it enough. If you like it, you should drink it. It doesn't matter if you can't define the taste. Just my 2c. Practice makes perfect.
Until next time.
